"A Modern Affirmation" - p. 885, The Methodist Hymn

...We believe in God the Father,

infinite in wisdom, power, and love,
whose mercy is over all his works,
and whose will is ever directed to his children’s good.

We believe in Jesus Christ,

Son of God and Son of man,
the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace,
        the ground of our hope,
and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death.

We believe in the Holy Spirit

as the divine presence in our lives,
whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance
        of the truth of Christ,
and find strength and help in time of need.

We believe that this faith should manifest itself

        in the service of love
as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord,
        to the end
that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth.

We invite you to visit our church for Sunday School, Worship Service and other activities and review our Church website to think about and decide where God is calling you to be involved, both in giving and receiving your gifts. Our Church's History

Methodism in Franklin County traces back to the late 1700s. By 1830, land was purchased at the corner of Noble and Main Streets—the site of our present church. A sanctuary was completed in 1859, and additional property was later acquired for a parsonage.

Through the years, the church remained a steady source of worship, encouragement, and service—even during financial hardships, the Spanish Flu epidemic, and the Great Depression. By the late 1800s, vibrant ministries had formed, including the Women’s Foreign Missionary Society and children’s mission programs.

Growth in the early 1900s led to expanded Sunday School space, the hiring of the church’s first choir director in 1938, and the installation of chimes in 1948. In the 1950s and 60s, the congregation built a new education building, restored the sanctuary organ, and completed a new parsonage on North Main Street.

In the 1970s, the Yolanda Jones Development Center was established to serve children with special developmental needs, reflecting the church’s heart for compassionate outreach. In 1998, a new Fellowship Hall and church office building were completed, later dedicated in memory of longtime member and teacher Mrs. Fannileen Lee.

The Louisburg United Methodist Preschool opened in 2006 to serve families in both the church and wider community. In 2018, a columbarium was added within the Edgar Owens Memorial Garden.

For over two centuries, Louisburg United Methodist Church has continued its mission of faithful worship and service in our community.
